The Templars Today are taking part on October 3rd and 4th in the Feast in honor of St. Francis in Assisi, Patron Saint of Italy. The celebration is held in his city and in the Basilica dedicated to him. Present at the event are Ecclesiastical, Civil, and Military Authorities, along with over 2,000 pilgrims from Abruzzo who this year will donate the oil that fuels the votive Lamp of the Municipalities of Italy, which burns on the Saint’s Tomb.
The event begins on the morning of Friday, October 3rd at the Basilica with the celebration presided over by H.E. Mons. Camillo Cibotti, Bishop of Isernia-Venafro and Trivento and President of the Episcopal Conference of Abruzzo–Molise, together with Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime, S.D.B., Pontifical Legate for the Papal Basilicas of Assisi, the Bishop of Assisi–Nocera Umbra–Gualdo Tadino, Mons. Domenico Sorrentino, and the General and Provincial Ministers of the Franciscan Families.
The event continues in the lower church of the Basilica, where H.E. Mons. Bruno Forte, Archbishop of Chieti-Vasto, will preside over the Pontifical Vespers prayer, followed by the procession toward the upper church of the Basilica with the Blessing of Italy from the dome with the Chartula of St. Francis, given by the Bishop of Assisi–Nocera Umbra. Greetings and addresses will be offered by the authorities, including the Prime Minister, the Honorable Giorgia Meloni.
